There are 4 different types of RWC's. Inbound, Outbound, Online/Local & Bridge/Haulage.
RWC's are applied to billing to indicate which of OUR customers will be receiving that said car.
RWC's are not used to select a Class 1. If a car need "blocked" to a Class 1 you will update blocking under WATSS.
1. Inbound RWC - Only get applied when bringing cars online.
When cars are received from the Class 1 at interchange, we will receive an inbound consist/advance. We need to apply an RWC that matches the status of the Waybill.
Select your RWC field and right click.
Best way to double check to see if this is the correct RWC is to check the details attached.
Select your RWC then click DETAIL.
Then select SECONDARY.
Select OTHER PARTIES tab.
The Waybill states that the Consignee is Industrial Warehouse Services at 502 Bear Creek Cut-off RD. The Other Parties section of the RWC shows for Tuscaloosa Warehouse, which isn't the same name; HOWEVER, the address is the same. This is the RWC you would select for this car.

Some inbound RWC's are harder than others. Always ask if you are not 100% sure. Some RWC don't match the company name either. Always check the car history, address or Rail Service Finder for a good cross reference.

2. Outbound RWC - Only get applied after a customer has released their car.
Empty: Empty outbound cars do NOT need an RWC. When a customer releases a car, sometimes a reverse route billing may apply which auto blocking for the Class 1. The RWC field will show empty. This is an Empty outbound to the BNSF.
The billing should auto Block once the customer releases the car to the Class 1.
Loaded: Loaded outbound cars MUST have an RWC applied since there is product in the cars. If a car is released loaded and the RWC reads RWCNEEDED you must apply the proper RWC. Take note of your Shipper and knowing your Destination Road and Station will help determine this. Follow the RWC selecting process below.
Right click your RWC field. Fill out the required fields and find the RWC's that fit your Shipper Information.

3. Online/Local Inbound or Outbound RWC
This means these cars travel from one location to another on one of our Watco Railroads. The KO is a good example.
These can be empty or loaded. This can also be an inbound car or outbound car.

4. Bridge/Haulage RWC - Class 1 to Watco to Class 1
Watco is the literal Bridge between one Class 1 to another. We handle these cars but these cars are not actually for us or for our customers.
THE ROUTE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO CHECK ON A HAULAGE WAYBILL.
Select your RWC and right click. Fill out the matching criteria.
Haulage Waybills sometimes come in really empty and lacking information. We also get blank 418 which will pop read in the inbound consist. These are all okay.
As long as you can tell which Class 1 is giving it to us and which Class 1 is receiving.

Tips for finding RWC's:
- Take a snip of the waybill to refer back to when trying to fill out the RWC criteria.
- Check the car's history.
- Inbound - Match the Consignee information to the RWC code.
- Outbound - Match the Shipper information to the RWC code.
- Check for the Consignee or In Care of Party under Associated Parties tab on the Second page of your Waybill.
- Most generally, the In Care of Party trumps the Consignee.
- Don't hesitate to ask for help. Some RWC's do not match actual company names which will make it more difficult.
