HLT Operations and Valero need to have DOT car specifications added to the switch instructions on all Valero cars. If the car does not have the specification, you can find it Railinc by using the following method. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have Umler access.
- Log in to your Railinc account.
- Under My Applications, choose Umler:
3. In the next screen, using your drop down menu under Query, choose Equipment Query:
4. You will then need to Customize Query Output by clicking on the tab:
5. On the left hand side of your screen, scroll down until you find “Stenciled Shipping Spec”. Highlight it and using your arrows in the middle of the screen, move it to the right hand side of your screen:
6. Go back to your Basic tab and click on it:
7. Under “Results will include equipment matching ALL of the following criteria” section, type in your cars and hit Search in the upper right corner:
PLEASE NOTE: Railinc will return your results in alphabetical order. Please be aware of this when adding the DOT number into your switch instructions.
8. Once your search returns, you can find your DOT numbers under the “Stenciled Shipping Spec” column on the right hand side:
9. You can then add either 117 or 111 into your switch instructions:
